Chef Diana Hages, moved to Lexington with her husband, Roger, and son
Robin, in 1988.
In 1990, Chef Diana and Roger bought and renovated 1930's grocery store and opened The Patio Cafe.
The restaurant soon gained state-wide attention, and was featured in Michigan Living, The Detroit Free Press and many other news and magazine
Molly Abraham of the Detroit Free Press lauded the cafe as "fresh and
interesting...from a health-oriented standpoint".
The Patio Cafe was know for its fresh bake goods, hearty quiches and fresh soups, salads and Saturday night dinners.
After a short retirement, Chef Diana reopened the doors of the former
cafe. With her artist son Robin, they opened SPUN GALLERY & STUDIO, a
multi-media gallery and the Thumb's first industrial art glass facility along with Patio Pastries and Organic Bakery.
For 8 seasons, they offer glass blowing demonstrations and classes, and
a large assortment of pastries, baked goods and to-go items.
Chef Diana spends her winter down time teaching cooking classes at Noble, and private classes to small groups.
This year, Patio Pastries and Diana's Bakery will extend their food line to
include deli salads and a large assortment of to-go items,including pizza, breakfast sandwiches and seasonal soups.
Diana's Bakery will also offer a selection of organic breads, delectable quiches, and salads made with organic greens and gluten free choices.
